Tonight I went to the Inland Church in Pomona. It was a celebration of the ordination of a fellow student in the MAWL program. I think it was a really neat service. The only problem for me was almost the entire service was in Korean. Thankfully, AMEN is AMEN in Korean as well. So I knew when the prayer was over or when the preacher made a good point.
The music was good, they did provide the English words for "Here I Am to Worship" and "Majesty."
Thankfully, Debbie Gin was there to sing. So I had someone to hang out with at the dinner afterwards. Which was REALLY good. Of course, all the garlic which is common in Korean food is getting me now! I was so impressed with myself when I was actually able to use the chopsticks.
Bill preached this morning. He did a good job as usual. He spoke from Joshua 1:6-8.
6"Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
7"Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.
8"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.
He reminded us that we are to be careful to do according to the law or to the Bible. We should not let it depart from our mouths, which means we have to get it there first! Bill spent a good deal of time talking about meditation. He wanted to make sure no one mistaked what he was saying. Meditating is not emptying our minds of everything, but actually filling our minds with the Word of God.
As it is with so much of scripture, there's a promise, the word THEN. He brought out the point that the word success means "acts wisely." The idea that if we mediate on the Word of God, know the Word, then we are going to act wisely.
Good thoughts as we go into a new year.

John's Incredible Pizza
The only place I know of where you can get cheeseburger pizza or peanut butter pizza and for that I'm VERY grateful! We had lunch today with my sister-in-law and her family. It was a good time. Though, it was the busiest I think I've ever seen it. When we left there was a line out the door! Inside you had a line that wraps around like something you see at Disneyland. Which makes sense since the place not only has an arcade but it also has a couple of rides! Much to Mark's disappointment we didn't go to the arcade today. I would much rather come back on a day that isn't quite so crazy.
Then we went next door to a "Crown Bookstore Outlet." I didn't find much that was exciting other than a dolphin calendar! Which, of course, I find very exciting!

After Christmas
Christmas is over! All in all it was a good Christmas season. The Christmas Eve service went well. After the service we had pizza at the family. Once we got home and Mark to bed Erwin and I (ok, mainly Erwin) put together Mark's basketball goal. Not an easy task in the dark, not to mention poorly written instructions. It was about 1:30 Christmas morning when we got it set up in the backyard.
So Christmas morning we tell Mark that he had to start picking up the dog poop in the backyard and he was starting today. He wasn't too happy about the idea but we got him outside. And for several minutes he tried to scoop up poop not seeing the basketball goal in front of him. When he finally saw it he was like "Woah!" He's been enjoying going out and shooting baskets with Mom. He's improving every day.
For lunch we went to Ken and Thelma's. It was great to see everyone and eat WAY too much food. I didn't get pics of everyone but the below link are a few from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The beauty of God's creation. Something I need to focus on more as the stress goes up. This week was long and stressful but successful, for which I am very grateful.
I wish I were the type to just flow with wonderful words of inspirations, but alas, not tonight for sure.
But the above flower reminds me of the beauty around me.

Jazz Concert
I love playing with Ken's camera. It takes some amazing pictures, especially outside pictures, but in door ones, not as good. Ken told me how to change some of the settings, but of course I couldn't remember. So at the Jazz concert last week I played a little when the band was doing their warm up. Here's a picture of Tim that I took after adjusting the settings.

Here's one example of how nice thie pictures come out when I'm outside. This was at Mark's practice game last Saturday.

Facebook Time
The issue of Facebook has come up about 10 times in the last month, so tonight I finally took the step and signed up with Facebook.
Not sure what I'll do with it but hey, I'm cool now right?

New Domain, New Look
Welcome to the NEW MagnusonHouse! I have a new domain .COM instead of .NET it was easier to create a new one than figuring out how to switch services. The only thing I'm not happy with, is the fact this domain is registered with godaddy.com UGH! They try to sell their services by selling it with sex. You only see their ads during the playoffs for football season. It appears that Google either bought godaddy or they are partnered. With a little luck, Google bought them and they will "clean up" the ads.
This weekend was a really good one. Yesterday was the Camarillo Christmas Parade and Tim's last time to be the head drum major of the San Dimas Royal Corps. Thankfully, we had beautiful weather for the parade. Tim did a really good job on his routine, though we started his salute a little too soon. Nice thing, it didn't matter. Tim won first place in his division of drum majors and was one point from winning sweepstakes. (Sweepstakes is the top honor for the highest scoring drum major).
Here's the partner picture to the one on the right.
