It's been a tough season so far for the Tarheels AA-1's. There's enough kids that they have two teams, the AA's which are the stronger more experienced players, then "the 1s" who are newer players, less experienced players. The "1's" have had a tough season with very few baskets and no wins until today. They had several kids who scored and everyone played well.
Here's Mark in the first half, taking a shot. He missed it, but he took the shot, which is a start. The picture below is just kind of funny to see him all twisted like that.
Mark also went after the ball a few times. He throws the ball in when he's in. He's getting pretty good at that.
The really cool thing today, is Mark took a shot in the second half as well. Unfortunately, he missed that one too. But both shots were good ones to take and he shot the ball well. Hopefully, he'll continue trying to make the shot and actually get one! Of course, it will cost me a dollar, but that's ok.

The Cat Likes Green Beans!!
We've joked for a long time that my cat, DCW, is a dog trapped in a cat's body. Well, tonight he got even weirder. When I opened a can of greenbeans he went crazy. So I offered him one and the crazy cat ate it. He ate at least one more from Erwin.
Such a weird cat.

Catching Up
Vicki was in town with Jim who had meetings on the new science building. So that meant it was time to get everyone together. Vicki was in need of a La Tolteca fix so that's where we gathered. Around the table we have Joy Oxley, Vicki Theel, me, Cheryl Rivera, Laurie McCormick, and Sharron Robb. A little later we had a surprise visitor when Judy Holmes heard Vicki laugh. She was there with her husband Darryl and their niece. We had a lot of fun and laughs. It was good to be together.

Snow in Azusa!?!?!?
This morning as I drove to West Campus this is what I saw! What appeared to be snow. I knew it rained last night and we even had some thunder. I didn't have the energy to get up and check it out. Evidently, we also had hail last night. Although there wasn't any sign of hail in Covina this morning, in Azusa it was still on the ground at 8:30. So nice to look at, but very thankful I don't have to live and function in it.

Brings back memories!
Tomorrow's Reverend Fun brings back memories...

I remember being at the White Oak Foursquare church probably in the early 70s. I was 6 or 7 years old. I remember old Mr. Meyers going up front and saying it was time to take the morning "ties and offerings." For the longest time I couldn't understand why they would be taking ties. Later own someone finally explained they were taking the TITHES and offerings. And that the tithes were 10 %of what you earned that you were to give back to God.
I still think of Mr. and Mrs. Meyers. They brought their grand kids to our house to invite us to Vacation Bible School.

January Goals
Rather than do these flowery New Year's Resolutions I'm going to go with monthly goals.
31 days is all the commitment I'm making! Now hopefully some of these goals will stretch into additional months and become habits. (At least the good ones).
So here we go for January:
