2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
Romans 12 is one of my favorites from the opening verse where Paul begs us to give our bodies to God as a living sacrifice. (Which on a side note is why we keep crawling off the altar. ) To the final verse that reminds us to not let evil conquer us, but to conquer evil by doing good.
That starts by giving ourselves to God, allowing Him to transform us by changing the way we think. For the topic of this month, prayer, the key verse comes in verse 12:
Rejoice in our confident hope. (even when we’re not super confident)
Be patient in trouble (patience being the HARDEST part when you’re in trouble and you’re trying to be confident)
Keep on praying – especially when hope seems to be failing and the trouble seems to be hanging on. Keep on praying!
